Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has expressed satisfaction with the announcement of a national election roadmap by the chief adviser of the interim government.
In a statement issued last night (6 June), he welcomed the declaration made by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus during his address to the nation.
In the statement, Dr Shafiqur Rahman said, "In his address to the nation, the Honourable Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, Muhammad Yunus, said the 13th National Parliament Election will be held on a day in the first half of April 2026. This announcement has reassured the nation, and people now hope that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure a free, fair, neutral, and credible election within the announced timeframe."
"It is the nation's deep aspiration that the interim government, by formulating and implementing the 'July Charter' based on three core issues - reform, justice, and election - will be able to restore Bangladesh to a proper democratic course," he added.
