Twenty-five youths got recruited by the Jhenaidah Police as trainee recruit constables by paying only Tk120 as application fee.

The results for the Jhenaidah Police Lines Trainee Recruit Constable (TRC) post were announced at 11pm last Wednesday (14 May).

According to district police data, a total of 1,741 people applied for the post of constable in the current process.

Of them, 277 people passed the physical test, 69 passed the written test. 

Later, after the viva voce, 25 people were finally appointed, including one woman. In addition, five more people were kept on the waiting list.

Shimla Halder, daughter of Ashok Halder of Joydia village in Kotchandpur upazila, is the only woman among the recruits.

"Today is the happiest day of my life. My daughter got a job without any bribery or lobbying. I am grateful to the Jhenaidah District Police and its superintendent," Ashok Halder said. 

Asik Iqbal, son of Lal Chan of Kumrabaria Union in Sadar Upazila, said, "I never thought I would get a job without a bribe. When I heard my name, I couldn't hold back my tears."

"Born in an underprivileged family, I grew up with a lot of hardship. Today, my dream has come true. I express my gratitude to the Jhenaidah District Police," he added.

The young men and women present at the event burst into tears of joy at the news of their jobs, creating an emotional moment.

Superintendent of Jhenaidah Police Manjur Morshed said, "The recruitment has been completed with 100% transparency on the basis of physical ability, talent and skills. The qualified ones have been given government jobs without any kind of lobbying, bribery or political influence."

During the briefing of the final recruits, the superintendent of police also said, "We have to work with honesty, dedication and humanity. We have to earn the trust of the common people by standing by their side. Everyone has to play a responsible role to brighten the image of the Bangladesh Police."
