Beximco Pharma signs MoU with North South University

Beximco Pharmaceuticals and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of North South University (NSU) have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster research, innovation, and career development in the pharmaceutical sector.

The Mou was signed on Monday ( 5 May 2025) by Mr Rabbur Reza, Chief Operating Officer of Beximco Pharma, and Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of NSU, on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under this MoU, Beximco Pharma will provide selected Mpharm students from NSU with financial support and access to world-class research facilities, facilitating their thesis work on specific topics.
This collaboration underscores Beximco Pharma's commitment to nurturing future talent and advancing pharmaceutical research in Bangladesh.

"This partnership with North South University marks an important step in bridging the gap between industry and academia. At Beximco Pharma, being a socially responsible entity, we recognise the immense potential of industry-academia partnership in accelerating scientific research to meet the needs of our patients. This will also help us build new capabilities to move up the pharmaceutical value chain". — Rabbur Reza, Chief Operating Officer, Beximco Pharmaceuticals.

"We are deeply committed to fostering academic excellence through meaningful partnerships with industry. We believe this collaboration will bring together the best talents and help create an innovation ecosystem in the country." — Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor, North South University.

He also addressed key gaps and offered policy-level recommendations for institutional reform, including gender audits and capacity building. Participants, including faculty, gender focal persons, researchers, and administrators from Bangladesh and Nepal, engaged in dynamic case-sharing and discussion sessions.

Topics ranged from gender disparities in academic leadership to institutional support mechanisms for women. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks from the BOU organising team on behalf of Dr A B M Obaidul Islam, MAGENDA Team Leader and Vice-Chancellor, reaffirming the university's dedication to promoting gender equality in higher education through evidence-based practices and inclusive policy frameworks.

The workshop aligns with MAGENDA's broader mission to foster sustainable gender equality in academia across Asia.
