56 illegal structures demolished, forest land worth Tk20cr recovered in joint operation in Gazipur

Under the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, a major eviction drive was conducted in Telihati and Pelaid mouzas of Satkhamair Beat under Sripur Range in Sripur upazila of Gazipur today (26 April).
In the joint operation carried out by the Sripur Upazila Administration, the Army, RAB, BGB, Dhaka Forest Division, and the Police, 56 newly constructed illegal structures were demolished, the environment ministry said in a press release.
Through this operation, approximately four acres of forest land were reclaimed from illegal occupation.
The estimated market value of the recovered forest land is around Tk20 crore.
To protect forests, forest land, wildlife, and biodiversity, and to prevent forest crimes and encroachments, such joint drives will continue, reads the press release.
