Mother admits to killing 2 children in Gazipur
Police yet to know motive behind the murders

A woman, who was detained after her two children were found hacked to death inside their house in Purbho Arichpur Rupbaner Morertek area in Gazipur's Tongi, has admitted to killing the kids.
Based on her confession, police showed her arrested last night (18 April) over the murders.
Zahid Hasan, additional commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, said the woman confessed to the murders during questioning at the police station around midnight on Friday.
"However, she did not reveal any motive for the killings."
Police are working to determine the motive behind the murders, he added.
Two siblings - Abdullah, 4, and Maliha, 6 — children of Abdul Baten and Saleha Begum from Tatoyakandi village in Bancharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria district, were hacked to death yesterday (18 April).
Quoting relatives, police said family members rushed to the scene around 4pm after being informed by the children's father.
They found the siblings lying in a pool of blood and immediately alerted police.
A blood-stained knife was recovered from the house during the recovery of the bodies.
The police autopsy report stated that the children sustained deep stab wounds inflicted by sharp weapons.
According to locals and police, after the incident, Saleha Begum called her two brothers-in-law from a neighbouring house.
Observing a fresh cut on her hand and incoherent speech, police grew suspicious and took her into custody that evening.
The incident sparked widespread discussions throughout the country.
