The government has taken a range of initiatives to enhance the capacity of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuj Alam said today (23 April).

Speaking at a focus group discussion organised by BFDC at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the adviser said, "Along with infrastructural development, the skills of BFDC officials and staff must also be improved. The government will extend all necessary support in this regard."

Highlighting the potential of the country's vast film market, he stressed the importance of utilising this opportunity and called on all stakeholders, including BFDC, to work collectively for the growth of the film industry.

Referring to the ongoing construction of a modern film city in Kabirpur, the adviser said it has already generated significant interest among industry professionals. He urged all concerned to actively contribute to expediting the project.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farzana, who also spoke at the event, underscored the need to renovate BFDC's existing shooting infrastructure. She also emphasised enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the under-construction Kabirpur film city.

BFDC Managing Director Masuma Rahman Tani acknowledged the challenges the organisation is facing and sought government support to accelerate its reform initiatives.

The discussion was attended by film directors, producers, cinematographers, and other stakeholders from the film industry.
