Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today (15 April) said Bangladesh's support to be continued to the people of Palestine.

"The 'March for Gaza' rally is an expression of Bangladesh's continued support for and solidarity with the Palestinian people," he said when Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh Yousuf S Y Ramadan paid a courtesy call on him at his ministry office here.

The adviser said the rally "March for Gaza" was held in Dhaka on April 12, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and their demands. Bangladesh is in favour of the independence and sovereignty of Palestine."

The adviser and the envoy discussed various issues of mutual interest, including the recent 'March for Gaza', visit of the Palestine TV delegation to Dhaka, and the issuance of a commemorative passport in the name of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Bangladesh.

Welcoming the ambassador, the adviser said Palestine is a tested friend of Bangladesh. "Our support and cooperation for them will always continue," he said.

Expressing his sincere thanks to Bangladesh for holding the 'March for Gaza' programme in Dhaka, the envoy said Bangladesh has done, while other Muslim countries, including the Arab world, could not do.

He said that the Palestinian brothers and sisters wanted to know about Bangladesh's special reason for holding such a large protest rally against barbaric massacre, torture and oppression of Israel.

Answering about the reason, the adviser mentioned Muslims of Bangladesh are truly devout Muslims.

The Ambassador said that a delegation of 'Palestine TV' will visit Bangladesh on May 17 to further sensitize the Palestinian people about Bangladesh's solidarity and compassion towards Palestine.

They will collect detailed information on the issue and prepare a documentary which will be aired on Palestine TV, he said.

The envoy requested the adviser to issue a commemorative passport in the name of Al-Aqsa Mosque from Bangladesh.

Later, the adviser assured him for the commemorative passport with the approval of the concerned authorities including the Office of the Chief Adviser.

Additional Secretary (Political and ICT) of Public Security Division Khandaker Md Mahabubur Rahman and Additional Secretary (Security and Immigration) of Security Services Division Shamim Khan along with concerned officials were present in the meeting.
