Foreign pistol, ammunition looted from police station recovered in Ctg; one arrested
The arrestee was identified as Md Rubel alias Roni (27), son of Md Nur Uddin, hailing from Mithachar Thakur Dighi Bazar of Mirsarai upazila in Chattogram

Chattogram Metropolitan Police today (17 June) recovered a foreign pistol, two rounds of ammunition, and two magazines looted from a police station and arrested a man in this connection.
The arrestee was identified as Md Rubel alias Roni (27), son of Md Nur Uddin, hailing from Mithachar Thakur Dighi Bazar of Mirsarai upazila in Chattogram.
The media wing of the CMP confirmed the matter through a press release in the afternoon.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Kotwali police station launched an operation at 12:45am in the Akmal Ali Balurmath area under Patenga Police Station and arrested Rubel. During preliminary interrogation, Rubel confessed that he had hidden a foreign pistol looted from Kotwali Police Station during an incident on August 5, 2024. He stated that he had concealed the weapon in the Loittya Ghat area of Ayakubnagar under Kotwali jurisdiction.
Following his confession, police recovered the weapon at approximately 2:45am. The firearm, a TAURUS SA Made in Brazil pistol (Serial No. TKU41433, BP2017 MTC) — was found wrapped in a green shopping bag and black polythene, hidden beneath a pile of garbage near a tree. Along with the pistol, two rounds of ammunition and two magazines were also recovered.
The suspect admitted that the weapon was looted during the vandalism of Kotwali Police Station on August 5. He confessed to hiding the weapon for future sale.
A case has been filed at Kotwali Police Station under Section 19A of the Arms Act, 1878.
