CMP introduces e-traffic fine payment system through Community Bank

The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has launched a new system for collecting traffic fines digitally through Community Bank Bangladesh PLC, aimed at simplifying the prosecution and fine collection process.
The inauguration was held on 10 April 2025 at the CMP Headquarters in Chattogram. CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz attended as the chief guest. An agreement was signed between CMP and Community Bank to formalise this new initiative.
Md Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Community Bank, signed the agreement on behalf of the bank. Following the signing, the e-traffic prosecution and fine collection system was formally inaugurated.
In collaboration with IT Consultants Ltd (ITCL), a two-day training workshop was conducted to familiarise police officers with the operational procedures of the system.
The new system allows traffic fines to be paid instantly using POS machines with upgraded software. Payment can be made via Visa debit or credit cards from various banks. Additionally, fines can now be paid through Smart Bangla QR codes prescribed by Bangladesh Bank, using a total of 78 gateways—including 21 mobile banking applications such as bKash, Nagad, Rocket, and mCash—along with 56 National Payment Switch channels.
All fines collected will be directly deposited into the government treasury via Community Bank's secure payment channels. Officials said the system will ease the burden on citizens by reducing the need to physically visit collection points or retain documents.
CMP Additional Commissioners Md Humayun Kabir (Admin, Finance & Crime) and Md Asfiquzzaman Aktar (Traffic) were present at the event, along with senior officials of CMP's Traffic Department and Community Bank, including Shamsul Haque Sufyani, Chief Operating Officer; Sarfuddin Md Redwan Patwary, Head of Operations; Mohammad Riaz Uddin, SVP and Agrabad Branch Manager; Zohir Ahmed, VP and Head of Cards; and Abdullah-Al-Mamun, SAVP and Andarkilla Branch Manager.
