Tk1.18 crore toll collected from Padma Bridge in 8 hours

Around Tk1.18 crore has been collected as tolls from Padma Bridge in Munshiganj's Louhajanj upazila over eight hours, from 6am today (26 March), ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
The toll was collected from a total of 11,421 vehicles from 6am to 2pm at the Mawa and Zajira points of the bridge, confirmed Executive Engineer Abu Saeed of the bridge's site office.
"In eight hours today, 8,013 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge at the Mawa point, generating Tk74.80 lakh in tolls, while 3,408 vehicles crossed at the Zajira point, with Tk34.76 lakh collected," Saeed said.
The official added that the Mawa point of the Padma Bridge did not experience any significant traffic congestion due to the Eid vacation.
As a result, vehicles going to the southern districts from the capital are crossing the bridge without any hassle, Saeed further said.
