Nearly Tk64cr toll collected from Padma, Jamuna bridges in 10 days
Over 6.8 lakh vehicles use Padma and Jamuna bridges in 10 days
Bangladesh Bridge Authority has collected nearly Tk64 crore as toll from the vehicles crossing the Padma and the Jamuna bridges during the last 10 days from 21 May.
During the period, 3,18,515 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge, generating Tk36,11,95,900 as toll revenue, while 3,61,482 vehicles crossed the Jamuna Bridge, generating Tk27,68,54,900 as toll revenue, according to Bridges Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf.
In a statement issued today (31 May), he said effective management of Padma and Jamuna bridges ensured safe, smooth and peaceful travel by road for Eid-ul-Adha holidaymakers.
Although traffic volume was higher this year compared to previous years, there were no major issues of public suffering or significant traffic congestion during the period, Rouf said.
These statistics reflect the capability and efficiency of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority in managing the country's road infrastructure, the statement added.
