Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan believes midfielder Hamza Choudhury will get goosebumps when he hears the national anthem played before his debut match against India in Shillong on 25 March.
The 34-year-old, who made his Bangladesh debut 12 years ago after moving from Denmark, feels Hamza will experience the same emotions. He also believes Hamza's decision to represent Bangladesh will inspire others to reconnect with their roots across the world.
Speaking at a press conference at Hotel InterContinental, with Hamza and head coach Javier Cabrera beside him, Jamal expressed his confidence that Bangladesh will defeat India in their Asian Cup Qualifiers fixture with Hamza in the squad.
"The welcome you are giving to Hamza (Choudhury) is tremendous. It will give inspiration to others around the world. On March 25, when he listens to the national anthem, Hamza is going to get goosebumps," Jamal said when asked about his experience as Bangladesh's first foreign-based player and Hamza following in his footsteps.
