The victim filed an attempted rape case, and the accused has been sent to court, said Sreenagar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shakil Ahmmed.

The victim alleged that Leon tried to rape her at her house on Friday night, and failing to do so, he stabbed her and fled the spot immediately.

In Sunamganj, police have detained a youth for allegedly attempting to rape a 10-year-old girl.

The accused is Sabul Mia, 25, from Jahirpur village in Bhatgaon union of Chhatak upazila.

Locals said Sabul tried to rape the girl, who is a madrasa student, after taking her to the madrasa building in the area on Friday morning.

He fled immediately as locals rushed to the spot hearing the victim's scream.

As the news spread, agitated locals vandalised Sabul's house during the night.

On the same night, police carried out a drive and detained Sabul.

Chhatak police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mokhlesur Rahman said a case has been filed in this connection. "He [Sabul] has been shown arrested and sent to court."

In Bogura, a 45-year-old local man allegedly raped two 6-year-old children after luring them with food on 12 March.

The children are undergoing medical examinations and treatment at the Victim Support Centre of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZRMCH), Bogura, said Kahaloo police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hannan.

One of the children is suffering from haemorrhaging while the other has a high fever.

The accused, identified as Nuru Islam from Kahaloo's Paikar Union, has been absconding since the incident.

OC Hannan said the two families of the children filed a case against Nuru on Friday night.

As per the case details, the two children were playing in front of their house when Nuru lured them to his house and allegedly raped them.
Efforts are underway to arrest Nuru, said the OC.

In Kushtia, an eight-year-old girl was lured with biscuits and allegedly sexually assaulted by a local grocer on 11 March.

The accused, identified as Sagjat, 50, who runs a grocery store at Shibpur area of the upazila's Harinarayanpur, has been absconding since then.

Angered by the incident, locals, including students, set fire to Sagjat's store last noon.
Islami University police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mehedi Hasan said some students set fire to Sajgat's store yesterday.

Police visited the spot and calmed the situation, he said.

The OC further said they have communicated with the victim's family. "Legal action will be taken in this connection."
