The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police will not seek further remand for JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury over her alleged involvement in providing fake Covid-19 test certificates.

Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Golam Mostafa Russel, deputy commissioner of DB Tejgaon Division, said they would produce her before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court today without any remand plea.

On July 13, Judge Shahinur Rahman granted a three-day remand for interrogating Dr Sabrina, a day after her arrest following the allegations that JKG Healthcare provided fake Covid-19 certificates.

Then again on July 17, a Dhaka court placed her on a two-day fresh remand.

However, the DB is now looking for the trade license holder of JKG Healthcare.

Sources related to the case told The Business Standard on Sunday (July 19) that the person had been identified as a female relative of JKG's Chief Executive Officer Ariful Haque Chowdhury.

Detective Branch officials also said they were very close to completing the investigation, and they were now gathering all the evidence and papers related to the case.

Dr Sabrina put on 3-day remand

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and National Board of Revenue have decided to initiate inquiry against Dr Sabrina over her alleged involvement in the scam.

The health ministry suspended Dr Sabrina from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) as per the government service rule 2018.
