Kafrul Jubo Dal activist killing: Accused placed on 3-day remand
The incident occurred around 11pm yesterday in the capital’s Kafrul area.
A Dhaka court today (25 July) placed Md Chanchal Mollah, the suspected shooter arrested over the killing of Jubo Dal activist Yusuf Ali, also known as Parvez, on a three-day remand in a case filed under the Arms Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid passed the order after a hearing, confirmed Dhaka Metropolitan Police Prosecution Division Sub-Inspector Wazed Ali Khan.
No lawyer appeared on behalf of the accused during the hearing.

According to the case statement, the incident occurred around 11pm yesterday in the capital's Kafrul area, where BNP Kafrul unit Member Secretary Md Hafizul Islam Babu, Yusuf and several others were talking.
The complaint alleges that Chanchal and an absconding armed accomplice opened fire on Yusuf in a premeditated attack. One bullet struck Yusuf on the right side of his chest and exited through his back. As he collapsed, panic spread among bystanders, while the attackers allegedly fired indiscriminately.
Two others - vegetable vendor Nalam Sardar and passerby Md Monir Hossain - were also seriously injured in the shooting.
All three victims were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where Yusuf later died while undergoing treatment.
According to the case, Chanchal was caught by locals in front of a shop in Mirpur-13 while attempting to flee. He was allegedly beaten by the crowd before police arrived and took him into custody.
Police said they recovered a foreign-made pistol and four rounds of ammunition from his possession.
During preliminary questioning, Chanchal reportedly disclosed his identity and named several alleged accomplices, including Jihad Mollah, Md Ziarul and Hasan, along with others yet to be identified.
Police subsequently filed a case against him under the Arms Act at Kafrul Police Station.
