11 abducted women, children rescued from 'kidnappers' hideout' in Teknaf hill area

Joint forces today (4 March) rescued 11 abducted women and children from an alleged kidnappers' hideout in the remote hills of Cox's Bazar's Teknaf.
"Acting on a tip-off, the rescue operation, led by Bangladesh Navy, was conducted in the Ali Khali hill area of the upazila's Hnila Union," Mohammad Gias Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station, told The Business Standard.
"The operation was launched based on reports that a group led by a man named Riduan had kidnapped 11 members of the same family. The joint operation successfully rescued nine women and two children from the remote Ali Khali forest hideout," he said.
"After the rescue, the victims were handed over to their families, and legal action is being taken against those responsible," the OC added.
Earlier, following a two-day operation, police had rescued two kidnapped individuals who had been lured into an abduction trap under the pretence of friendship. During that operation, police arrested three members of the kidnapping gang along with ransom money.
