National Pay Commission's questionnaires open for online feedback
The questionnaires will be open for feedback from 1 to 15 October on the commission's website.

Highlights:
- Minimum salary suggestion set at Tk10,000; allowances also have floor limits
- Survey includes questions on inflation, housing rent, corruption, and retirement benefits
- New salary structure to be implemented during interim govt's tenure, says finance adviser
The National Pay Commission 2025 has begun receiving opinions from the general public in formulating the pay structure for government employees.
Starting today (1 October) until 15 October, citizens, government employees, institutions, and associations can visit the commission's website (paycommission2025.gov.bd) to fill out a questionnaire.
Some questions, however, have minimum thresholds set for responses. For instance, when asked about the minimum salary for a government employee, responses cannot be lower than Tk10,000.
Similarly, medical allowances for employees below 65 years cannot be suggested below Tk2,000, and for those above 65 years, not below Tk2,500. Education allowance also carries minimum limits.
Respondents are also asked to suggest ratios between the highest and lowest grades of salaries, with options such as 1:8, 1:10, and 1:12.
The survey for citizens contains 35 questions, including what a six-member family of a government employee should earn, how salaries should be adjusted for inflation, and whether existing housing allowances are sufficient. Participants can also give opinions on area-based housing rent as a percentage of basic salary.
Other questions include whether low salaries encourage corruption among government officials and if retirement benefits are adequate.
According to the preamble of the questionnaire, one of the main objectives of the National Pay Commission 2025 is to design a broad-based and sustainable salary structure for officials and employees of government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, state-owned banks, financial institutions, universities, and industries — aligned with economic growth, inflation, and national development strategies.
Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed yesterday said the new salary structure for government employees will be implemented through a gazette during the tenure of the interim government itself.
"We will not wait for the next government. Funds will be allocated for this in the revised budget of the current fiscal year," he added.
