The officer-in-charge of Mia Bazar Highway Police Station has been withdrawn after two robberies occurred on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla within 48 hours.

Confirming the matter, Cumilla Highway Region Police Superintendent Khairul Alam yesterday (1 March) said, "Robberies have increased in the Chauddagram section of the highway recently. OC Jasim Uddin has been withdrawn due to negligence of duty."

According to police officials, four robberies have occurred in the Chauddagram section of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in the last one and a half months.

On 15 January, a truck filled with 300 sacks of rice was robbed in the Mirshani area of ​​the highway. On 8 February, a gold shop in the Mia Bazar Mosque Market located next to the highway was robbed. 

On 27 February, a microbus driven by an expatriate was robbed at Falgunkara Mazar area of the highway. On 1 March, a car driven by another expatriate was robbed in the same manner at the same place.
