Youth shot in DB firing during alleged robbery preparation in Badda
The incident took place around 8:45pm last night (13 August) in the Stand Housing area of Block M, Sector 5, Aftabnagar under Badda Police Station.
A youth was injured in a gunfight with the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police while allegedly preparing for a robbery in the capital's Badda area.

Police said Md SM Ariful Islam Pavel, tried to fire at them with a pistol after noticing their presence, prompting the officers to open fire in self-defence.

According to the Detective Branch, its Gulshan unit conducted an operation based on information that a group was preparing for a robbery in the area. When the police arrived, Pavel allegedly tried to shoot at them, after which the officers fired one round from a shotgun.
Pavel was shot in the right leg below the knee. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 10pm and is currently receiving treatment in the emergency department.
Inspector Anwar Hossain of Gulshan Detective Branch said a pistol and three rounds of ammunition were recovered from Pavel.
