Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today (25 February) laid emphasis on working together with Moscow to address regional and global challenges and advance the Bangladeshi-Russia ties as strong as ever.

"Our two countries also need to continue the legacy of bonhomie, work together to address regional and global challenges, and ensure that the bonds between Bangladesh and Russia remain as strong as ever," he said while speaking at the event organised in celebration of "50 Years of The Russian House" in Dhaka this evening.

Hossain said the Russian House has  been a beacon of cultural diplomacy, a place where the thinkers, intellectuals, artists and professionals of two countries can come together to celebrate and understand each other's culture.

The adviser said as the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Russian House in Dhaka, the two capitals also looked ahead to the future.

"Indeed, the celebration of this significant milestone is not only a reflection of the past but also a renewed commitment to building an even stronger, more vibrant partnership in the years to come," he said.

He said Dhaka and Moscow need to continue to build on the foundations laid by the Russian House, embracing new opportunities for cultural exchange, enhancing people-to-people ties, and further deepening the partnership.

Hossain said Russian support in various development sectors has been playing an instrumental role in the Bangladesh's journey of progress and prosperity.

For instance, he said, the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant now stands as a signature initiative in the bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Russia.

Referring to the visit of ROSATOM Director General to Bangladesh from Wednesday, the adviser hoped that the visit would help review the further progress of the construction of the Power Plant.

Following the transformative July Revolution, the adviser said, Bangladesh has embarked upon a new journey - a journey defined by resilience, inclusivity, and dynamic growth.
Under the leadership of Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, he said, Bangladesh is in the process of embracing a future that will be free from discrimination, injustice and inequality.

"We appreciate the continued support of the Russian Federation as a trusted friend and partner in building a Bangladesh that our students dreamt for!" he added.

Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Khozin, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Dr. Syed Jamil Ahmed, Director General, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov and
Russian House Director Pavel Dvoychenkov were also attended the event.
