Spring festival 1431 celebrated at Dhaka University in a festive atmosphere

The gentle touch of Phagun has brought colour to nature and vibrancy to the heart. On Monday, 24 February 2025 (11 Falgun 1431), the Dhaka University TSC premises came alive with the exuberance of spring celebrations.
The sixth edition of 'Ruchi presents Dhaka University Cultural Parliament's Spring Festival 1431', courtesy of Chopstick, showcased an enchanting blend of music, dance, recitation and cultural splendour. The campus resonated with the sweetness of spring through this remarkable fusion of colours, melodies and joy.
The day-long festival brought to life the timeless traditions of the people and soil of Bengal. The rural folk fair, reminiscent of childhood memories lost in urban commotion, reflected the essence of Bengali folk culture in every corner. Excitement spun with colourful merry-go-rounds, puppet shows enthralled children and bioscope frames captured lost tales. The rhythmic recitation of Puthi and the devotional melodies of Kirtan created a mesmerising ambience. The fair also featured handmade jewellery, traditional attire and an array of local delicacies, transforming the grounds into an earthen stage that echoed the spirit of Bengal.
As evening fell, the festival took on a new dimension. The surroundings came alive with captivating musical performances by star artists, mesmerising dance movements and emotional recitations. Amidst the city's hustle and bustle, this event evoked cherished memories of bygone days—blending the melody of the soil, the fragrance of folk traditions and the boundless exuberance of spring.
At 2:30 PM, the discussion and honouring ceremony took place with the esteemed presence of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan, as chief guest. Renowned artist and Honorary Professor at the Department of Oriental Art, Dr Md Abdus Sattar, was present as the keynote speaker. He said, "Such celebrations are crucial because we are gradually losing our national identity. I am grateful to the young generation committed to preserving our culture."
