Arrest warrant issued against Meher Afroz Shaon
A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against actress Meher Afroz Shaon in a case filed over allegations of assaulting her parents.
The Dhaka Metropolitan 1st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued the order yesterday (22 April).
Shaon's stepmother Nishi Islam filed the case earlier, which also accused 12 others, including former Detective Branch (DB) chief Harun-or-Rashid.

As Shaon, the main accused in the case, and the others were absent from the court, the court issued an arrest warrant against them.
According to the case details, in 2024, Shaon's father Engineer Mohammad Ali posted an advertisement on a marriage platform seeking a bride. He then met Nishi Islam and they got married.
Following which, Shaon, widow of late writer Humayun Ahmed, reportedly abused her father mentally and physically.
There are allegations against Shaon and her siblings for using their influence to have Nishi jailed for six months.
