4 BNP, Jubo Dal leaders arrested over attack on Kuet students
They were shown arrested and sent to jail through a court order on Friday (21 February), but the police confirmed the information this morning (23 February)

Police have arrested four leaders and activists of the BNP and Jubo Dal in connection with the attack on students at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet).
They were shown arrested and sent to jail through a court order on Friday (21 February), but the police confirmed the information this morning (23 February).
The arrested individuals are BNP leader Abdul Karim Molla, Jubo Dal leader Anwar Hossain, Ibrahim Howlader, and BNP supporter Shafiqul.
Investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Riqabul Islam of Khan Jahan Ali Police Station said army personnel detained five individuals on the day of the clashes and handed them over to the police.
"They were receiving treatment in the prison cell. Later, four of them were officially shown arrested and sent to jail on Friday," he added.
On 18 February, a clash between Kuet students and Chhatra Dal activists reportedly left over 100 students injured. Following the incident, Kuet's security inspector, Moniruzzaman Liton, filed a case on 19 February, naming 400–500 unidentified individuals as accused.
BNP condemns arrests
BNP's Khulna Metropolitan unit has condemned the arrests in a statement, alleging that a secret student organisation was responsible for the tragic incident at Kuet.
The party leaders claimed the statements of victim students, media reports, and video footage clearly show that Chhatra Dal supporters were attacked without provocation. However, police are harassing BNP and its affiliated leaders and activists without proper investigation.
The party further alleged that Abdul Karim Molla, Anwar Hossain, Ibrahim Howlader, and supporter Shafiqul were arrested while receiving treatment for serious injuries at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
This is condemnable and politically motivated, they claimed.
The statement was signed by BNP National Executive Committee's student affairs secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Khulna Metropolitan BNP Convener Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona, and Member Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, among others.
