Healthy nation is crucial for country's progress: Army chief at Dhaka International Marathon

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman today (8 February) emphasised the importance of a healthy nation, stating that a strong and physically fit population is crucial for the country's progress.
"To build a strong and healthy nation, we must promote fitness-focused activities like marathons across the country," the army chief said during the Dhaka International Marathon 2025 award ceremony at a naval base near the 300-feet road in Dhaka's Purbachal, reads an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.
He also highlighted the significance of promoting marathons nationwide to encourage fitness and well-being.
The army chief awarded prizes to 80 winners across four categories.
The marathon, the largest in the country, saw the participation of 10,000 runners from 10 countries.
It was inaugurated in the early morning by the Principal Staff Officer of the Army, Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan, ISPR added.
