The trial for the massacre during the July Uprising must be conducted first, otherwise, it would be a betrayal of the blood of the martyrs, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said today (8 February).

He made the remark while addressing a Jamaat worker conference as the chief guest at the Cox's Bazar Government College ground.

He further called for the separation of politics from extortion and criminal activities, urging that such wrongdoings should be avoided.

"Extortion has existed in politics in the past, and it continues now. We must stop those who are involved in it," he said.

Describing Jamaat-e-Islami as "the most oppressed party in Bangladesh", he said, "We still haven't regained our registration. Jamaat is the only party whose registration has been revoked. The party has been banned because it seeks the law of Allah."

"Over the 54 years of independence, no misconduct has been linked to Jamaat-e-Islami, while every party in power has been involved in corruption and plundering. No such allegations exist against Jamaat members," Shafiqur Rahman added.

He further said, "The war is not over yet. We will not allow anyone to harm anyone, even if provoked. The fugitive former police officer Benazir is conspiring from abroad. Various conspiracies continue to unfold."

He called on the nation and party leaders and activists to remain alert and aware about this situation.

The Jamaat District President, Nur Mohammad Anwar, presided over the worker conference, which was also attended by Jamaat's Central Assistant Secretary General and former MP of Cox's Bazar-02 constituency, Hamidur Rahman Azad, as well as central and district-level leaders and workers from the district.

From the morning, party leaders, activists, and supporters started gathering at the conference venue. By 9am, the venue was packed with thousands of people.

In the worker conference, women also participated alongside men. However, the women sat in the field of Ilyas Mia Chowdhury High School, located opposite the college ground, and listened to the leaders' speeches.
