BRTC to launch 'Pink Bus' service for women on 18 August
The new transport service, operated entirely by female drivers and conductors, aims to ensure safe commuting for women as part of the government's election manifesto.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) is set to launch a dedicated "Pink Bus" service exclusively for women on Tuesday (18 August).
Operated entirely by female drivers and conductors, the initiative aims to provide safe and hassle-free transport for female commuters, according to a press release issued by BRTC today (16 August).
The official inauguration of the women-only bus service will take place at 10am on Tuesday at the BRTC Dhaka Truck Depot premises in the capital's Tejgaon.
The service is being introduced as part of the government's ongoing efforts to implement its election manifesto commitments, the release added.
Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Sheikh Rabiul Alam is scheduled to attend the event as the chief guest, with State Minister for Railways and Road Transport and Highways Division Habibur Rashid present as the special guest.
