Islami Bank hosts Business Development Conference 2025

Islami Bank PLC inaugurated its two-day Business Development Conference on January 18, 2025, at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka. Serving 25 million customers, the bank operates 400 branches, 265 sub-branches, and 2,783 agent banking outlets across Bangladesh.
Chairman Obayed Ullah Al Masud inaugurated the event, with Managing Director Mohammed Monirul Moula presiding. Special guests included Mohammad Khurshid Wahab, Chairman of the Executive Committee, and other prominent leaders. The conference showcased key financial achievements for 2024, including a Tk 1.61 lakh crore deposit base, a Tk 8,000 crore increase from the previous year. Investments reached Tk 1.59 lakh crore, and transactions in imports, exports, and remittances totaled Tk 64,782 crore, Tk 32,438 crore, and Tk 66,017 crore, respectively.
The bank's digital app, Cellfin, now has 46 lakh subscribers, while its micro-investment initiatives have impacted 18 lakh families in 34,000 villages.
Chairman Obayed Ullah Al Masud highlighted Islami Bank's contribution to Bangladesh's development, stating, "With 6,500 units, we are connected to a quarter of the nation's population, positively impacting communities through our Rural Development Scheme." Managing Director Mohammed Monirul Moula emphasized the bank's national role, noting it facilitates 9% of Bangladesh's import-export trade and handles a quarter of the total remittances.
Senior executives, including Deputy Managing Directors Mahmudur Rahman, Md Rafiqul Islam, and others, participated in the event. The conference concluded with a focus on strengthening remittance collection, investment, and deposit growth.
