Unidentified miscreants have vandalised the outdoor venue for the sports day programme of Jahan International School in Mohammadpur.

"An annual sports programme of Jahan International School was scheduled this morning [18 January] at a playground near the Mohammadpur Minar Masjid area. Pandal, stage and other arrangements were made last night, and everyone was waiting for a colourful sports day," said Kazi Anisul Islam, the parent of a student and an assistant professor of journalism at Cumilla University.

"However, when the teachers and parents came to the playground this morning, they found most arrangements vandalised. We don't know who did it, but the school authority had to make it all again," he added.

Marzana Khanom Lupin, in charge of the school's Mohammadpur branch, said the school authorities had to make all arrangements again to proceed with the sports day event.

The Business Standard reached out to Mohammadpur Police Station officials, but they declined to comment on the matter.

The school authorities are yet to decide whether they would take any legal action over the vandalism.
