The accused include Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Joynal Abedin Mridha, Member Secretary Mamunur Rashid, Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Emdadul Haque, and Chhatra Dal President Ashraful Islam, among others.

Additionally, 160–170 unidentified BNP and affiliate organisation members have been named as suspects in the case. Police are conducting raids to apprehend all individuals involved.

Earlier, slogan-chanting supporters forcibly freed a Jubo Dal activist who was being held in Srinagar Police Station in Munshiganj district, police said today (11 January).

Additional superintendent of police in Munshiganj said Anisur Rahman said accused Tariqul Islam, 40, an activist of Jubo Dal was detained on Friday (10 January) in connection with a previous incident of violence.

Later that night, more than fifty BNP leaders and activists gathered at the police station and pressured the police to release him. When the police refused, they created a commotion and eventually snatched the accused from police custody.

Munshiganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Shamsul Alam Sarkar confirmed the incident to The Business Standard and said efforts are underway to bring those involved in the incident, including the snatched accused, under the purview of the law.

Tarikul is known to be a member of the convening committee of the Srinagar Upazila unit of Jubo Dal. He is a resident of Deulbhog area in Srinagar Upazila, Munshiganj.
