Countries with the most lakes

The world has about 1.42 million lakes. North America holds the largest share, with 69.6%. Canada alone accounts for 62%, more than all other countries combined making it the clear leader. At the other extreme, the Middle East has just 0.1%. Bangladesh, meanwhile, is home to 1,174 lakes.
