Nepal envoy requests Bangladesh to ease raw jute export ban
The two sides discussed ways to expand bilateral trade at the adviser’s office in the Secretariat

Nepal's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, has requested Bangladesh to relax restrictions on raw jute exports, citing the heavy reliance of Nepal's jute mills on Bangladeshi supply.
"Nepal has 11 jute mills, and they depend on imports from Bangladesh to meet their demand. The recent suspension of raw jute exports from Bangladesh has created difficulties for these mills," Bhandari
said during a meeting with Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin at the adviser's office in the Secretariat this afternoon (16 October).
In response, the commerce adviser said Bangladeshi jute and jute products enjoy strong demand in international markets.
"Rather than exporting raw jute, Bangladesh now aims to export semi-finished jute products," he said, adding that the country is producing high-quality, eco-friendly semi-processed jute goods to meet global standards.
"If Nepal imports these products, bilateral trade volume will increase and both countries will benefit from it," the adviser said.
The two sides discussed ways to expand bilateral trade in detail during the meeting.
