Keeping your house clean during Eid-ul-Adha
Covid-19 has made it especially important this year to observe strict hygiene practices during Qurbani
The first day of Eid-al-Adha is usually a bloodbath. The roads, apartment parking lots and even open fields are covered in blood, guts and animal waste. The scene is not pleasant to the eyes or the nostrils, and the improperly disposed waste poses additional danger during the Covid-19 situation.
The pandemic has changed the ways we celebrate joyous occasions and made us aware of the importance of good hygiene practices. Hence, it is especially important this year to observe these practices more strictly.
Sterilization
The first step for sacrificing your beloved animal is a clean and sharp knife. To properly sterilize the knife that will be used for slaughter, boil it in bubbling water for at least 30 minutes. This will kill off any bacteria that lurks on the surface of the knife, preventing bacteria buildup on the meat which will later travel to your house. After boiling, rinse the knife with chlorine-enriched tap water.

Sanitation
To avoid attracting flies or other bugs, clean the area used for slaughtering with regular household detergent and disinfect with antiseptic liquid before thoroughly cleaning with bleach. Make sure to pour ample water on the ground to properly wash off the chemical cleaners.
Avoid clutter
Make sure you supply your butcher with more than enough storage containers to store the meat in. Provide them with extra-large garbage bags so they don't have to pile up the animal waste and skin materials on the ground. Doing so will help contain the spread of germs and parasites.
Post-slaughter
Once the slaughter is done, it's time to clean the area used with plenty of chemical cleaning agents such as strong detergents and powder bleach while keeping a steady flow of running water, preferably through a water hose. This will drain away all the blood and the remaining bodily waste can be cleaned with ease. Make sure to carry out another round of washing with antiseptic agents to eliminate any residual waste so germs and parasites can't contaminate the premises.
Keep your drains clean
If bits and pieces of raw flesh and animal waste get stuck in your drains, germs can breed and parasites can grow. Pour hefty amounts of chemical cleaners and bleach down the drains in order to avoid deadly contamination.
