LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has thanked the cleaning workers, saying this Eid-ul-Adha was joyful due to their tireless efforts.

"Eid means sacrifice, so we are keeping the city clean for the people by sacrificing the joy of Eid. Eid was joyful due to the tireless work of the sanitation workers, thank you," he wrote in a Facebook post.

In another post, he said that 100pc waste removal in 487 wards of 12 city corporations was possible in a short time due to collective planning, hard work and love.

"This is not just a statistic; this is the victory of our promise. Cleanliness is now not just a promise, but a reality," he said.

Asif said Dhaka was cleaned in less than 12 hours on Eid-ul-Adha.

Noting that animal sacrifices were made for three consecutive days, including Eid day, he said the sense of responsibility of the city dwellers and the tireless work of the sanitation workers have played a key role in removing waste and keeping the city clean.

"A clean city is not just a goal, it is a daily responsibility. Love and gratitude to all colleagues for fulfilling this responsibility," he said.
