The three-day-long 16th Asia Pharma Expo'-2025 kicked off at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal New Town today (12 February).

The Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI), the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Export Promotion Bureau jointly organised the event, reads a press statement.

Zakia Sultana, senior secretary of the Ministry of Industries, was present as the chief guest at the opening ceremony.

Md Saidur Rahman, secretary of the Health Services Division; Major General Md Shameem Haidar, director general of the Directorate General of Drug Administration; and Baby Rani Karmokar, DG-1 of Export Promotion Bureau, were present as special guests

Abdul Muktadir, president of the Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Industry Association, delivered the inaugural speech of the event.

In his speech, Muktadir, who is also the chairman and managing Director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited, highlighted the participation of a remarkable total of 800 companies from 32 countries, including major players like America, China, England, Germany, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ireland, and of course, Bangladesh.

This arrangement includes pharmaceutical processing and packaging, biotech lab equipment, API manufacturing plants and machinery, pharma formulations and contract manufacturing. By doing this, domestic and foreign entrepreneurs will get to know details about various types of modern technology equipment parts and raw materials related to the pharmaceutical industry.

SM Shafiuzzaman, secretary-general of the Pharmaceutical Industry Association, delivered the closing remarks.

The three-day Asia Pharma Expo will end on 14 February.

The expo will be open daily from 10am to 6pm.
