A four-tier security blanket has been designed to ensure the safety of the Muslim devotees, as the authorities prepare to host the 198th Eid-ul-Azha congregation in the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan in Kishoreganj.

The main Eid Jamaat will be held at 9am on Eid day. Mufti Abul Khayer Muhammad Saifullah, khatib of Boro Bazar Jam-e-Mosque, will lead the congregation.

The prayer will begin following the ceremonial firing of three gunshots.

Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj district and also the president of Sholakia Eidgah Committee Fouzia Khan came up with the information after a meeting at the conference room of the Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner's Office today (19 May).

Additional Deputy Commissioner Mizabe Rahmat, Additional Superintendent of Police Mahmudul Islam Talukder, Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ershad Mia and other members of the Eidgah committee were present at the meeting.

Maulana Zubair Ibn Abdul Hai, a lecturer of Haybatnagar AU Kamil Madrasa, will serve as the backup imam for the congregation.

A separate Eid prayer has been arranged for females at Surjabala Government Girls' High School.

The main Eidgah field, spanning around seven acres, accommodates 206 rows for worshippers.

Each row can hold between 700 to 800 devotees, allowing thousands to perform the Eid prayers together in one of the country's largest and most historic congregations.

Sholakia gets its name from this famous Eid congregation (from when it had 1.25 lakh devotees).
