35 orgs, individuals honoured at Bangladesh Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Awards
The second edition of the Bangladesh Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Awards (BTTHA) recognised excellence, innovation, and leadership across the country's rapidly expanding travel, tourism, and hospitality industries.
The awards highlighted the outstanding achievements of organisations and individuals who are setting new benchmarks in service quality and professionalism, reads a press release.
The programme was jointly organised yesterday (29 January) by the travel and tourism publication The Bangladesh Monitor and Galaxy Group, the leading travel-trade conglomerate in the country.
Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan attended the award presentation ceremony as the chief guest at the InterContinental Dhaka ballroom. The event brought together a distinguished gathering of leaders from the tourism, hospitality, and business sectors.
Ahmed Yusuf Walid, president and CEO of Galaxy Bangladesh Group; Ali Reza Iftekhar, managing director of Eastern Bank PLC; David O'Hanlon, general manager of InterContinental Dhaka; and Kazi Wahidul Alam, editor of The Bangladesh Monitor also spoke on the occasion among others.
BTTHA 2025 recognised a broad range of organisational and individual achievements across the tourism and hospitality sectors. In total, 27 organisations and 8 individuals were honoured in 29 categories.
Additionally, the prestigious 'Jurys Lifetime Achievement Award' was presented to Shahid Hamid, chairman of the PATA Bangladesh Chapter, in recognition of his invaluable contributions to Bangladesh's hospitality sector over more than five decades.
The BTTHA 2025 was officially launched on 25 September 2025, inviting nominations from prospective candidates. A total of 89 organisations and individuals submitted more than 150 nominations. A distinguished Jury Board comprising industry experts, environmentalists, and representatives from traditional and social media shortlisted nominees across all categories.
To ensure transparency and broader engagement in the selection process, the shortlisted nominations were opened for public and industry voting online from 11 November to 21 December 2025. Nearly 20,000 people participated in the voting process. In selecting the winners, the Jury considered multiple criteria, including the quality of nominations, voting results, overall public perception, and on-site evaluations. Jury members also visited several properties and conducted interviews with organisational representatives and individual nominees.
Kazi Wahidul Alam, editor of The Bangladesh Monitor, said, "The BTTHA Awards are designed to recognise and inspire stakeholders in Bangladesh's tourism and hospitality sector to continuously raise standards of service and professionalism."
