Uncle of Salman Shah refutes the actor’s involvement with Shabnur

Film maker Alamgir Kumkum, uncle of the late heartthrob actor Salman Shah has said that the actor had no romantic relationship with actress Shabnur.

His response came as the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) revealed their investigation yesterday at a press briefing saying Salman Shah committed suicide over an extra-marital affair with his co-actress Shabnur and a feud over that with his wife and family.

Alamgir Kumkum outright denied the alleged affair when The Business Standard team contacted with the noted filmmaker in Sylhet over telephone.

"This is a completely false and an outright lie. Shabnur was just a co-artist and nothing more. They might have had a friendship between them, but there wasn't anything going on between the two actors. My nephew wasn't married that long to be involved in an affair with someone else. It is not wise to involve Shabnur in all this," he said.

When he was asked about the marital conflict between Salman and Samira, Alamgir confirmed the issue saying: "Yes, they were going through marital conflict but that was completely their own personal issue.  Within the first year of their marriage, Samira became pregnant with their child and then aborted the baby without informing Salman. This made him furious as Samira was responsible for the all the problem between the couple."

Alamgir Kumkum further said that he remembers the day when Salman died. "I talked to him on the night before he died. At that time I was in Sylhet and he called me saying that he was coming to see me in the morning. He wanted to perform the Jummah prayers with me and told me that he was going to share with me a hard decision that he took that day."

He revealed that Salman Shah had decided to divorce Samira.

The film maker said that he has enough evidence to prove that Salman's death was a murder. "We have already submitted the evidence in court. All that is left is for the court to come to a conclusion. Right now we are not ready to say anything on this matter anymore," the late actor's uncle added.
