Saif Powertec Limited has secured the tender to remove empty containers from Chattogram port.

The Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) decided to give Saif Powertec the final go-ahead as the company was found offering the lowest rate for the task.

Enamul Karim, Chattogram port director (Traffic), said they opened the tender box on Tuesday morning. Saif Powertec offered the lowest around Tk115.91 crore for the task. The company will work on the project for the next seven years.

According to port sources, the CPA floated the tender for empty container removal on 14 October.

Seven companies submitted the tenders while Saif Powertec and Everest Port Services were declared "technical responsive" -- which means they have conformed to all the terms, conditions and specifications of the tender documents.

As the tender rate of Everest Port Services Limited was more than the rate of its market rival, the work went to Saif Powertec.
