50,000 tonnes of fertiliser to come from Qatar, KSA
Qatar chemical and petrochemical company Muntajat and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation will supply the fertiliser
The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase Wednesday approved the proposal to bring in 50,000 tonnes of urea from Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation will import the fertiliser at a cost of around Tk112 crore.
The urea will be supplied by Qatar chemical and petrochemical company Muntajat and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation.

Besides, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation will purchase 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea from Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company Limited at Tk62 crore.
The cabinet committee meeting on public purchase chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal approved the purchases Wednesday. After the meeting, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal briefed the press virtually.
He said the meeting also approved a revised agreement with Japanese Nippon Koei, a consultant on the Water Development Board's "Flood Management and Living Standards Improvement Project in Haor Areas", adding Tk13 crore for variation with the existing agreement.
The Cabinet Division additional secretary also said the government had approved two packages for road development from Cox's Bazar Ektabazar to BNS Sheikh Hasina base.
Abu Saleh said the road would be developed at a cost of nearly Tk273 crore.
