FBCCI urges businesses not to hike essential prices citing new pay scale
The Consumers Association of Bangladesh called for curbing the dominance of middlemen in the market
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has urged business leaders not to raise the prices of essential commodities on the pretext of the newly approved National Pay Scale 2026.
FBCCI Administrator Fazlul Hoque made the call during a views exchange meeting with businesspeople at the federation's headquarters this morning (1 September).
"Following the approval of the pay scale, ordinary citizens have become anxious about essential commodity prices. Businesses should reassure consumers that there is no connection between the pay scale and price hikes for essential goods, and pledge not to raise prices," he said.

Meanwhile, the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) called for curbing the dominance of middlemen in the market to ensure a steady supply of quality products at fair prices and accurate weights.
