FY26: Bangladesh's per capita income crosses $3,000 for first time
This marks a Tk34,362 rise from Tk3,34,511, or $2,769, recorded in FY2025-25.
For the first time in the country's history, Bangladesh's per capita income rose to Tk3,68,873, equivalent to $3,020, in the outgoing FY2025-26, according to provisional estimates of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released today (10 June).
This marks a Tk34,362 rise from Tk3,34,511, or $2,769, recorded in FY2025-25.
The BBS also estimates that the gross domestic product (GDP) growth for FY26 is at 4.14%, slightly higher than the 3.49% in FY2024-25.
The size of the country's economy at current prices stood at record Tk61,20,209 crore - approximately $501 billion - in FY26, up from Tk55,15,026 crore, or $456 billion, in FY25.
