Walton begins exporting power cables to Maldives
Bangladeshi electronics giant Walton has reached another milestone in its export operations by starting to export locally made power cables to the Maldives, following approval from the Malé Utility Regulatory Authority.
Walton Cables Product Manager Md Hasibul Haque said the certificate of approval from the regulatory authority is mandatory for using power cables in electrical installations in the Maldives. The authority grants certification only when products meet international standards.
Ranfaun Private Limited, a Maldivian electronics brand and Walton's business partner in the Maldives, applied for and secured the approval after rigorous testing and examination of Walton cables. Ranfaun is now marketing Walton-branded products and providing customer service in the Maldives. Walton has already sent two shipments of power cables to its partner.
Walton Cables Chief Business Officer Razu Ahmmed said, "The Maldives is a small country, but its per capita income is high and it attracts tourists from all over the world. We are very happy to begin our brand business there with Walton cables. The country's power cable market is currently worth around $30 million and continues to grow. We believe Walton cables will secure a strong position in the Maldivian market."
He added that Walton cables are set to be exported to at least four more countries in the near future.
According to company officials, Walton aims to expand its brand business to more than 100 countries worldwide as part of its long-term plan to become one of the leading global electronics brands. The company has already established its brand presence in over 50 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
