USA resumes corn exports to Bangladesh with new shipment
The US Embassy in Dhaka, on 7 January, welcomed the arrival of the first shipment of US maize to Bangladesh since 2018 at Chattogram Port.
The shipment comprises 57,855 metric tonnes of yellow maize harvested in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota during the 2025–26 crop year and shipped from Vancouver, Washington.
The delivery marks the first opportunity in eight years for Bangladeshi feed millers to source US maize for animal nutrition.
US Embassy Dhaka agricultural attaché Erin Covert visited the port to receive the consignment, accompanied by representatives from three major feed milling companies—Nahar Agro Group, Paragon Group, and Nourish Poultry and Hatchery Limited.
An official of United Grain Corporation, the exporter, said the company looks forward to supplying US grains to Bangladesh in the coming years.
