US Embassy delegation visits Elite Garments factory in Tongi
A high-level delegation from the US Embassy recently visited the Elite Garments manufacturing facility in Kamarjuri, Tongi, as part of an industrial site visit focused on export manufacturing, labour standards, and operational transparency.
The delegation included Paul Frost, Commercial Counsellor; Leena Khan, Labour Attaché; Carsten Fletcher, Defence Attaché; and Nina Fletcher and Mashur Seth, representing the commercial, labour, and defence wings of the embassy.
During the visit, the delegation met with the senior management of Elite Group and received an overview of Elite Garments' operations, export footprint, and compliance framework. The company noted it has maintained a nearly 35-year manufacturing relationship with US-based PVH Corp, a major global apparel group, reflecting the factory's long-standing alignment with US buyers, global compliance standards, and responsible sourcing practices.
The delegation was given access to production areas, including cutting, sewing, finishing, and quality assurance sections. Company officials stated that discussions with factory management were open and candid, highlighting Elite Garments' commitment to transparency, worker welfare, and continuous improvement.
Shayaan Seraj, Group Director, Elite Group, said, "We appreciate the high-level delegation from the US Embassy visiting our factory and engaging so openly with our teams. It was an opportunity for them to witness first-hand the manufacturing capabilities and resilience of the Bangladeshi people, which have supported long-term partnerships with leading US companies for decades."
Elite Group stated that members of the delegation appreciated the hospitality and noted the openness with which operational processes and labour practices were discussed.
