UCB provides financial support for hepatitis B vaccination programme

The United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), one of the leading financial institutions in the country, is, in collaboration with the renowned voluntary organisation Sandhani, providing financial assistance for the Hepatitis B vaccination program for all students of Dhaka Medical College starting from the first year.
As part of this noble initiative, a brief ceremony was held at the UCB headquarters on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.During the event, Mr. Sharif Zahir, Chairman of UCB, handed over a cheque for 12 lakh taka to Professor Dr. Abdul Hanif (Tablu), Head of the Department of Neonatal Surgery at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, on behalf of Sandhani. Senior officials from both organisations were present at the ceremony.
Mr Sharif Zahir, Chairman of UCB, stated, "Dhaka Medical College Hospital receives the highest number of patients from all corners of Bangladesh. As a result, doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, and students are at significant risk of contracting serious diseases like Hepatitis B. Since the vaccine is now available, getting vaccinated and staying protected is crucial." He added, "The health and safety of students are of utmost importance to us, and we are proud to stand by them through this initiative."
Professor Dr Abdul Hanif expressed heartfelt gratitude to United Commercial Bank and Chairman Sharif Zahir on behalf of Sandhani for providing this protection. He said, "This initiative will ensure a vital safety measure for our students.
We plan to start the medical college vaccination programme very soon."
