UAP marks World Pharmacists Day, honours pharmacy professionals
The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) marked World Pharmacists Day 2026 with a special celebration and felicitation programme at the UAP Auditorium on Saturday (26 September), highlighting pharmacists' role in healthcare and public health and recognising professionals from academia and regulatory bodies.
Organised by the UAP School of Pharmacy under the theme "Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures", the programme brought together pharmacists, policymakers, academic leaders, and recognised professionals to honour their achievements, leadership, and contributions to the pharmacy profession, according to the press release.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain, MP, attended the programme as the chief guest.

University of Dhaka Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Professor Dr Md Selim Reza and UAP Board of Trustees Chairman KM Mozibul Hoque attended as special guests.
UAP Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan chaired the programme.
The celebration began with a colourful rally marking World Pharmacists Day.
The felicitation programme at the UAP Auditorium began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by UAP Department of Pharmacy Head Professor Dr Zabun Nahar.
UAP School of Pharmacy Dean Professor Dr Mohammad Shahriar delivered a presentation highlighting the key activities, achievements and contributions of UAP and its School of Pharmacy.
The programme also featured remarks from the guests.
In his address, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain highlighted pharmacists' role in healthcare and public health.
He emphasised professional excellence, responsible practice and greater contributions from the pharmacy sector towards building a healthier future.
A major part of the event was an award ceremony recognising professionals from regulatory bodies and academic institutions for their contributions to the pharmacy profession.
Among representatives of regulatory bodies, Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) Director General Md Alamgir Hossain; University Grants Commission (UGC) Member Professor Dr Md Aslam Hossain; Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) Member Professor Dr Md Shah Amran; and Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB) Secretary Muhammad Mahbubul Haque received awards.
From academia, the award recipients were University of Dhaka Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Professor Emeritus Dr Choudhury Mahmood Hasan; University of Dhaka Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Professor Emeritus Dr Md Abdur Rashid; UAP Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan; University of Rajshahi Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Mamunur Rashid; Noakhali Science and Technology University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Safiqul Islam; Jahangirnagar University Treasurer Professor Dr Md Sohel Rana; and University of Dhaka Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Professor Dr Md Selim Reza.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by UAP Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, followed by a group photograph and closing ceremony.
UAP said the programme reflected its efforts to recognise professional excellence and highlight pharmacists' contributions to healthcare and public health in Bangladesh.
