BKSP opens Chinese language learning centre
Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) has inaugurated a Chinese language education centre to expand higher education opportunities for its trainees in China and reduce language barriers.
BKSP Director General Brigadier General Mohammad Saif Ullah and Yunnan Minzu University Party Secretary Ruan Chaoqi inaugurated the centre by cutting a ribbon and a cake at BKSP's Audio Visual Centre today (27 September), according to the press release.
Representatives from Yunnan Minzu University and senior BKSP officials attended the inauguration.
After the opening ceremony, a cultural programme was held, with BKSP trainees and Chinese trainees currently receiving cricket training at BKSP participating.
The Chinese delegation later visited the language laboratory established at BKSP's college section, the Indoor Cricket Centre and the Tai Chi Centre.
Before the inauguration, the delegation also attended an exchange meeting with the BKSP director general.
Cooperation between BKSP and Yunnan Minzu University in sports and education has continued under a memorandum of understanding signed between the two institutions in 2024.
Under the agreement, Yunnan Minzu University has supported the establishment of a Tai Chi Centre at BKSP.
The cooperation also includes scholarships for BKSP trainees to pursue higher education, as well as exchange training programmes between the two institutions.
Meanwhile, BKSP is providing cricket training to students at Yunnan Minzu University.
The Chinese language education programme has been introduced to expand opportunities for BKSP trainees to pursue higher education at universities in China and to help overcome language barriers.
At present, 60 trainees are learning Chinese in the first batch under three Chinese-language instructors.
In addition, 10 former BKSP trainees are currently pursuing higher education in China.
BKSP authorities expect that Chinese proficiency will help create and expand higher education opportunities in China for more of its trainees in the future.
