IPDC Finance PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank under the Tk 5,000 crore CMSME Working Capital Refinance Fund to expand access to working capital financing for cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSMEs) across Bangladesh.
The initiative aims to ensure that eligible and viable CMSME borrowers receive financing for productive business activities, helping enterprises maintain and expand operations while supporting employment generation, according to the press release.
Bangladesh Bank signed the agreement at its head office in a ceremony organised by its SME and Special Programmes Department (SMESPD).
IPDC Finance Managing Director Rizwan Dawood Shams and Bangladesh Bank SME and Special Programmes Department Director Md Zabdul Islam signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
The refinance initiative emphasises ensuring funds reach eligible and viable CMSME borrowers and are used effectively for productive business activities.
The financing is intended to help businesses meet day-to-day working capital and liquidity requirements, sustain operations and expand productive capacity.
Commenting on the partnership, Rizwan Dawood Shams said, "Access to timely and affordable working capital is essential for the sustainability and growth of CMSMEs."
"Through our participation in this refinance scheme, IPDC aims to expand further financing opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses across the country."
"We believe this initiative will support business continuity, facilitate expansion and contribute to employment generation while strengthening financial inclusion," he added.
Through its participation in the scheme, IPDC Finance will facilitate working capital financing for eligible CMSMEs across different segments of the sector.
The initiative is also expected to strengthen access to formal financing for businesses that require working capital to maintain production, services and other business activities.
IPDC said its participation in the fund reflects its focus on supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening Bangladesh's CMSME ecosystem through accessible and responsible financing.
By facilitating working capital support, the initiative is expected to contribute to business continuity, expansion and employment generation across the country.
IPDC Finance said it continues to work with regulatory and development partners to broaden access to finance for underserved and emerging businesses and support inclusive, sustainable economic growth in Bangladesh.
