SOS, BSRM collaborate to expand family-based child care
BSRM has partnered with SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh to bolster family-based alternative care services for vulnerable, orphaned and abandoned children, aiming to set a benchmark in long-term child welfare.
The partnership, titled "Family House Support for Alternative Care Facilities", was formalised with the signing of a memorandum of understanding at SOS Children's Village Chattogram on 21 May 2026, according to a press statement.
Under the agreement, BSRM will provide financial support to sustain family houses at the Chattogram facility.
The support aims to ensure access to education, healthcare, nutrition and safe accommodation for children in need.
Dr Md Enamul Haque, National Director, SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh, and Runi Rahman, Head of CSR, BSRM Steels Ltd, attended the signing ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Dr Md Enamul Haque emphasised the importance of collective action to address the needs of vulnerable children.
"Addressing the needs of vulnerable children requires collective action. This partnership with BSRM enables us to build sustainable support systems and unlock brighter, more secure opportunities for children who need them most," he said.
The collaboration underscores the significance of corporate-NGO partnerships in reinforcing long-term child welfare and protection frameworks in Bangladesh.
SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh has operated in the country for over 55 years, offering family-based alternative care, youth development, education and emergency support for at-risk children and families.
The organisation received the Swadhinata Puraskar (Independence Award) for its contribution to social development and child welfare.
