Youth climate campaign reaches 53 districts, plants 120 trees
A youth-led environmental campaign has reached 53 districts across Bangladesh, engaged more than 800 participants from 215 institutions, and planted 120 trees.
Noboproyash Forum and the MGBS Eco and Earth Club organised "Act For Tomorrow 2026" under the theme "Turning Awareness into Action," according to a press release.
Launched as a World Environment Day initiative, the campaign sought to raise students' awareness of environmental issues and climate change, while encouraging practical action, communication, creativity and critical thinking.

School, college and university students participated, alongside teachers, environmental clubs, young researchers and volunteers.
The campaign featured the National Environmental Quiz Olympiad, National Sustainability Essay Competition, National Eco Photography Contest and Green Bangladesh Plantation Initiative.
University students recorded the highest participation, with 150 registrations, followed by 149 college students and 78 school students.
The quiz olympiad attracted 320 entries, while the essay competition received 145 and the photography contest drew 112.
The campaign's main in-person event was held at Shahjahanpur Railway Government High School.
Mission Green Bangladesh Founder and Executive Director Ahsan Rony and Trainer, TEDx Speaker, Author, and World Book of Records Holder Md Solaiman Ahmed Jeshan spoke at the Youth Environmental Leadership Seminar held during the event.
They discussed sustainability, climate action and the role of young people in building a greener future.
The event also included a "Plant for Plastic" campaign and a tree-planting drive. Students exchanged collected plastic waste for tree saplings as part of the activity.
Winners of the quiz, essay and photography competitions received national-level recognition.
The recognised participants represented institutions including Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Sylhet Agricultural University, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and Uttara University.
Local Environment Development and Agricultural Research Society (Ledars) joined the initiative as its green partner and supported the tree-planting activities.
The organisers also acknowledged the MGBS Eco and Space Club for its contribution to implementing the campaign.
"Act For Tomorrow 2026 was more than a single day of tree plantation – it was a statement that young people across Bangladesh are ready to lead on climate action," the organisers said.
Noboproyash Forum said it aimed to expand the campaign to every district in 2027.
